– Focus group discussion with mothers aged 45-65, aimed to encourage debate and influence social norms by promoting mechanisms for preventing and reporting cases of radicalism and violent extremism at all stages of development. The project’s aim is to encourage mothers to talk about extremism, raise their voice and report cases that affect their families and communities. Mothers expressed concerns about their limited role in the community including protection of their children and families. Very few mothers have the opportunity to discuss and share their views about social norms that negatively affect their families i.e. radicalisation and violent extremism.
The common messaging of this focus group are “We don’t have sons to lose in foreign wars!” and “My land, my life, my grave!”
