The Campaign “A Call for Change” promotes changing the quota for women’s representation and harmonizing the Law on General Elections with the Law on Gender Equality. Balkans Group through this campaign aims to directly act on one of the recommendations deriving from the policy reports Women in Politics I and Women in Politics II, and advocacy letters (1, 2, 3) where we urge independent institutions and agencies to support the harmonization of the Law on General Elections with the Law on Gender Equality. This means replacing thirty (30) percent of the gender quota with fifty (50) percent of the quota described in the Law on Gender Equality.
A Call for Change
Inequalities and discriminations must be eliminated. The solidarity of women and the emancipation of men makes us all winners.
The gender quota in parliament, assembly and the electoral roll is a barrier to women’s voices. I invite you to respect the law on gender equality.
In order to feel represented and for the common good, we must increase the quota.
Respecting the law is the duty of every citizen and institution, while creating respectable laws is the obligation of the legislators.
Political parties are obliged to implement Gender Equality Law.
Raise the gender quota and encourage women in decision-making positions.
The gender ratios in our population are 50 – 50, so women should be represented in the assembly with 50%.
The woman is the backbone of the family and society. Respect the Law on Gender Equality.
If we have managed to secure 30% representation, then we can achieve the same success for equal representation by raising the quota to 50%.
Increasing the activities, increasing the quota but also by voting more women in the lists full of men!
The people of Kosovo must be equally represented by women and men.
Increasing the quota for gender representation will allow women to lead policies.
Equality is a value – Let’s give women the place they deserve!
I call for electoral reform and harmonization of laws in the future.
Elections as the only mechanism of a functioning democracy must involve the equal participation of men and women.
Women and girls should be represented in every institution and every sphere of life.
Ova kvota ne garantuje ni brojčanu ravnopravnost između muškaraca i žena – ostavljajući žene u značajnoj meri nedovoljno zastupljenim.
So, nothing less than 50-50. That is equality.
What we demand is respect for the Law on Gender Equality.
Parity is essential for political legitimacy.
Equal participation of women in decision-making is achieved only by changing the quota for the representation of women.
Equal inclusion is a condition we must aim for, for our future.
“Increasing the quota would serve as a guarantee for the inclusion and a delegation of duties to women – for women.”
Change the quota. For our women and girls. For the future of our country.
“The Law on General Elections must be harmonized with the Law on Gender Equality”
I am for 50-50 representation but qualitative as well.
“Change the quotas, so we can change the colours.”
“To achieve gender equality, political parties must raise the gender representation quota.”
“The quota should be 50% until society is more aware.”
“Let’s change the quota, for the benefit of all the ëomen and girls of our country.”
“The commitment to gender equality should become a principle of society, however simultaneously the mentality of our society should be inseparable.”
“Promena počinje od razmišljanja i nastavlja se zakonima i ono šta je potrebno je razmišljanje o principima ravnopravnosti!”
“Differences are not part of human rights, so ëe must fight them.”
“A 50-50 participation should be guaranteed if society is still not ready to have the representation of ëomen in the Assembly.”
“The gender quota must change. It must be equal.”
“Let’s raise the quota and let results speak for themselves.”
“Only the principle of equality between men and women will make our society a healthy and democratic one.”
Women in Kosovo have shown that they can and will succeed. Without making a lot of noise and being in the headlines of bad news.
