November 2016 – Balkans Group conducted eleven interviews in November 2016, in Ferizaj, Drenas and Vushtrri municipalities. The research included interviews with representatives of local civil society organizations, religious councils, regional police, municipal officials, and community leaders. They helped us better understand the local context on the issue in relation to the religious extremism, its impact in the community, and social and institutional gaps and challenges in addressing the concerning issue on radicalisation.

Our research has identified the topics for public debates, approach, and ways to encourage local communities in particular parents, mothers, students, youth to raise their voice against radicalisation. Empowering local community voices is a vital approach for an effective fight against extremism.
